Another great day on the Braves Country Caravan! Part two of Day Two was spent at the amazing Academy Sports in Evans, Georgia – just outside of Augusta. If you’ve never been in an Academy Sports, it’s like a Home Depot for sports enthusiasts…HUGE store and the best staff!
A large, dedicated group of fans waited to get autographs from Jim Powell, Zane Smith, Paul Assenmacher and Freddie Freeman. The media was in full force with the Augusta Chronicle, CBS News 12 and ABC6 coming out to the event.
Heading home now on I-20 and looking forward to tomorrow’s stops in metro Atlanta. Fans can go to the Publix on Sandy Plains Road in Marietta to see Chipper Jones, Tim Hudson, Kris Medlen, Peter Moylan, David Ross, Brian Jordan and Brad Clontz!!!
Hope to see you there or at any of the other Braves Country Caravan stops!
Our first stop today was at Wild Wings in Columbia, SC. A huge crowd came out to ask questions and get some good food.
The Q&A was conducted by Braves radio broadcaster Jim Powell. Participants were alumni Paul Assenmacher and Zane Smith and #2 Braves prospect Freddie Freeman.
Good stories about why players love Bobby so much, and how Freddie is progressing through the Braves system. Freddie spoke highly of his teammate and best friend, Jason Heyward and said he can live up to the hype.
Fantastic questions were asked by the knowledgable fans, prizes were handed out as were autographs from all the participants.
Will you be joing the Caravan on any of the stops???
What a great way to start the 2010 Braves Country Caravan with a visit to Fort Benning, Georgia. We had an incredible time with the men and women of the Wounded Warriors Batallion and Operation Homefront. And the Braves fans in Montgomery and Auburn – what a reception you gave us too! Kris Medlen, Freddie Freeman, and Chino Cadahia have a message for everyone we met today.
Thank you again for making the first day of the Braves Country Caravan such a success!

Several Braves were at the ballpark this morning hitting in the cages and throwing outside on the field. Braves coaches Terry Pendleton, Glenn Hubbard, and Brian Snitker were here as well, and they’re all looking forward to the Caravan! Tommy Hanson and Kris Medlen came in to throw, as did Peter Moylan, recently back in the USA from his home in Australia. Tommy had a message he wanted to share with fans, so check it out below! And if you want to hear the sound of Spring, check out the video of Clint Sammons in the cage!
The stops have been announced, and hopefully we’re coming to a town close to you!
Bringing the Braves to you is really important, but just as important is our commitment to continue to raise awareness regarding the help needed in Haiti.
We’re hoping that having the American Red Cross at so many of our events will help, as well as having a contingent of players, coaches, alumni at MedShare in suburban Atlanta to sort and pack much needed medical supplies and ship them off to the people who need them the most.
We hope you come out to our stops and that you post your memories, photos, etc. so that all the other Braves fans can enjoy them as well!
